Lunchbox Ideas: Mother’s Day Edible Delights

March 30, 2011 by caroline Leave a Comment

Maybe the weather will be kind, and you can venture out on a picnic or walk with some cookies, here are some tasty ideas worth giving this Mother’s Day!

451Spring is here, blossom’s blooming, the clocks already jumped forward an hour and Mother’s Day is fast approaching – Sunday 3 April!

It looks like we’ve gone all sweet here at Lunchbox Towers!
Here is our round-up of quick and easy ideas that are homemade and therefore mean so much more to the Mum receiving them, as you’ve given your time as well.

They can all be found in our recipe section.
These are all easy enough for the kiddlies to help out with too, and we think they make a welcome addition to any lunch box or picnic:

I Love You Cookies
A delicious recipe using Jordans cereal.
Here you can be as creative as you like!

Blooming Lovely Flower Cookies
Thanks to Baking Mad and the lovely people at Silver Spoon, these are quick and easy to make, and can be a tasty alternative to a bunch of flowers!

Fondant Fancys
Another pretty recipe from the Baking Mad team, perfectly portable for any trip out, picnic or lunch box treat!
These could make a perfect afternoon tea, just make sure Mum puts her feet up!

“Cookies with Love” from Greens
For those with even less time to spare, Greens have one of those ready to make packs of cookies where you just add butter and water. The rest is in the pack, including the gel pen to decorate. So you really can whip these up even on Saturday! Pretty much fool-proof, just be sure to follow the instructions carefully, and allow to cool before decorating.
Available at Asda, or check their website.

Another tip : Find a pretty box, jar or some cellophane bags / wrap, line with some coloured tissue, gently stack them, then make a handwritten tag from coloured card, and tie with ribbon.

Perfect edible gifts that are great for that walk in the woods, or inpromptu picnic (weather permitting)! Carefully pop in a tin, grab some drinks and a flask of tea, a rug, maybe an umbrella (or two) and off you go!
