Sharing lots of sandwich ideas for your lunch box – British Sandwich Week gives me any excuse to talk lunch boxes!
OK so you may have caught the reel on @lunchboxworld instagram account today, sharing my favourite open sandwiches, which are so so under-rated. I thought Barry White’s music might help get you in the mood! I love food and I really hope it will help inspire you, help tantilise your tastebuds and encourage you to embrace new flavours!
Whether you are packing a lunch box for you, your kids or it’s a working lunch at home, it doesn’t matter. Let’s take those moments and make it for ourselves! It doesn’t have to be complicated!
For me, it’s the combination of rocket (or arugula) and pomegranate, not forgetting the parma ham mixed with the olive bread slices! Just delicious!
But going back a step, let’s just remember there are many many ways to make a sandwich! There are many many ways to add variety to the lunch box too!
Here are just some lunch box ideas to help whet your appetite! And yes below, there are 5 ideas here using different carriers to bread, so I really hope this inspires you to add variety and shake up your lunch boxes this week! But if this is not enough, remember the Lunchbox World YouTube channel has over 200 videos on it, so I am sure you will find lots more inspiration!
1 Sandwich thins made into love hearts
Sandwich thins are family favourite as a sandwich carrier. We mix up the brown and white, using it for colour, and it’s another way of putting the love back into the lunch box!
And no these don’t have to be only for Valentines! They can be any time of year!
2 Mini kebab skewers loaded with mini sandwiches
Another fun idea for the lunch box is creating mini sandwiches. Yes, it is a little bit more effort when preparing the lunch box, but a super fun way to add fun to the lunch box. It also makes everything bite sized, which is super handy for the kids. Remember they only have maybe 15 minutes before they are encouraged to go out into the playground!
3 Mini submarine rolls made into mini burgers
I do wish more supermarkets would embrace the need for bigger mini ranges of foods. So far, I have only found these mini submarine rolls in M&S here in the UK. I hope you get to find something similar in your local supermarket!
These are loaded with mini homemade burgers, but if you are low on time, you can always buy readymade burgers, cook them up the night before, store in the fridge overnight and pop in the lunch box! Just remember to add an icepack or two and pack the lunch box in a lunch bag.
4 cute love letter wrap idea
You can probably tell I love lovehearts and I love colour, pinks, clashing with red, orange, baby pink and more! So this idea is super quick and easy, based on a wrap. Now you can get mini wraps and the adult sized wrap, so whatever you prefer… And remember you can freeze these, so you can mix up the lunch box ideas day by day.
5 chicken caesar salad on ciabatta
For me this is a match made in Heaven! Chicken caesar salad on ciabatta!
If you are packing it in a lunch box, I would add the dressing into a separate salad pot and add just before eating at lunch time!
Again I sometimes cheat, buy the caesar salad kit in the supermarket, add a pre-cooked chicken breast or you can use chicken slices, add the ciabatta and load up in no time!
I really hope these ideas help inspire you to have fun with your lunches and to embrace sandwiches this British Sandwich Week!
