Lunchbox Ideas – The arrival of Benjoy and the Munchcup™, great for pre-schooler’s on-the-go!

October 26, 2010 by caroline Leave a Comment

Last Week Lunchbox World caught up with Founder of Benjoy, Michelle Daniells launching a brand new healthy snack range for young children on-the-go, wanting snacks and lunch-on-the-go with NO mess!

391An exciting children’s food company Benjoy Nutrition, just launched with a new range of healthier snacks for toddlers and pre-schoolers packaged in the ‘Munchcup™’, the first anti-spill, “less mess” packaging of its kind anywhere in the world.

Moved to action by the lack of age appropriate, healthy snack food and convenient packaging for young children, Benjoy’s founder Michelle Daniells used her experiences as a mother to develop the unique range of nutritious and convenient snack foods for toddlers and pre-schoolers. After combining efforts with the expertise of the current Benjoy team including a clinical dietician, Sally Child well-known nutritionist and author of several books on children’s nutrition, a food technologist and a panel of mums, Benjoy was born.
Benjoy foods are age-appropriate and nutritionally optimised by incorporating 100% natural ingredients and essential nutrients commonly lacking in young children’s diets. The ingredients, portion sizes and recipes have been developed using flavours, textures, sizes and shapes that young children enjoy.

Handy, single portions are offered in Benjoy’s exclusive anti-spill MUNCHCUP™, the first ‘less mess’ packaging of it’s kind and designed for maximum convenience for parents. They are ideal for lunchboxes and out-of-home eating occasions. The initial range has been designed to offer parents more choice with healthy alternatives to the numerous biscuits and crisps on the market and includes:

Freeze-dried Fruit Slices:
Crunchy Strawberry Slices – Fresh strawberries that are freeze dried for a crunch that children love and a vitamin content that give parents peace of mind; gram for gram 3 times more vitamin C than fresh strawberries.
Crunchy Grape Slices – The 11g portion is made from approximately 55g of fresh grapes (the equivalent of half a bunch of grapes) and provides both manganese and vitamin C.
Wholesome Multigrain Bites:
Tomato and Carrot – These toddler-sized bites include a mix of grains including quinoa to optimise taste and nutrition and are flavoured with real tomato and carrot juice.
Multigrain Munchers:
Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper – Containing a mixture of grains (millet, rye, wheat) and seeds (golden linseed, sunflower seed, linseed) these crunchy sticks are nutritious and delicious. They are flavoured with vegetable purees, herbs and spices
Wholesome Mini Crisps:
Root Vegetables – A great mix of beetroot, parsnip, carrot and sweet potato. These are unique because they have no added salt (appendix 1 for comparison to similar products).

Michelle Daniells, founder of Benjoy comments, “I knew there was a real need for healthier snack foods that were age appropriate in terms of nutritional content. But it wasn’t enough to develop just another range of snack food; my experience as a mum led me to design our innovative ‘less mess’ packaging that gives parents a convenience they’ll appreciate!”

All Benjoy foods are made using 100% natural ingredients, are low in salt and sugar and contain no refined sugar. Benjoy children’s food is available from Ocado and in store at Morrisons from November 2010. Recommended retail prices range from £2.49.
