5 a day explained

April 15, 2009 by caroline Leave a Comment

5adayWhat is the 5 a day? Five a day is a government initiative to encourage more fruit and vegetables to be eaten in the UK.

Eating fruit and vegetables gives your body the right vitamins and minerals it needs to be healthy, so you look good on the outside, and feel good on the inside.

Some fruit and vegetables contain Vitamin C, some are high in folic acid and potassium and some contain fibre, and antioxidants, which are all good for you.

They are also generally low in fat and low calorie foods.

They are also delicious and there is a huge variety to choose from!

What is the size of a portion?

If you’re wanting a handy chart so you can visualise the 5 a day explained, then have a look at this 5 a day poster. It’s really useful.

Hope this helps explain things some more!
