Today’s recipe is a quick and easy Easter Chick lunch box recipe that hopefully will bring a smile to your child’s face! This is, I promise, super quick to make and needs just a few ingredients, which you most likely will have in your fridge. Of course, you can add and vary the toppings for different effects. Ingredients

  • brown or white bread two slices
  • slice of cheese gouda or cheddar
  • seeds x 2 for the eyes
  • carrot for the beak
  • butter
  • tools:
  • egg shaped cutter
  • sharp knife
  • chopping board

Instructions

  • Take two pieces of bread. Place on chopping board. With the egg cutter, cut one egg shape from each piece of bread. Keep one egg piece whole. Wit the other egg shape piece of bread, cut out a zig zag shape roughly across the middle to form the cracked egg look. Lightly butter the bread. Put pieces to one side.
  • Then take the cheese slice and use the egg cutter and cut out one egg shape.
  • With the off cuts of cheese, cut out the two wings.
  • Take the carrot. Cut out a small triangle for its beak and two little bits to form a little crown for its head.
  • To assemble, lay one egg shape on the plate, buttered side up. Layer the egg shape cheese slice on top, then the half cracked egg buttered side down. Pop the two seeds for eyes in place, the beak and the crown. Add the wings either side and Voila! The Easter Chick Sandwich is complete!
  • If desired with the off-cuts cut out a flower or a sunshine shape with brown and / or white bread, with half a grape on top.
