Only 15% of people living in Britain eat their recommended five a day!*

October 5, 2009 by caroline Leave a Comment

What’s more alarming, almost one in ten admit that they don’t have ANY fruit or veg whatsoever! Here are some tips how you can get your five a day in your lunchbox

211According to a survey of 2500 Brits conducted by Dole in 2008, Dole found that only 15% of people living in Britain eat their recommended five pieces of fruit and veg each day!* The survey also found that many people are struggling to reach their 5 a day simply because they don’t have enough time.

With an ever increasing busy lifestyle, it appears impossible to maintain a balanced diet. However, if you’re searching for an easy five-a-day option, we at Lunchbox World can help give you some more ideas as to how you can achieve this.

Ways to get five a day in your lunchbox

Consider the Dole Fruit and Juice pots, or the Fruit Flakes by Fruit Bowl, or Whitworths Fruits, Sunny Raisin or their new flavoured raisins, or the new Kiddylicious Fruit Snacks as a way of varying the form the 5 a day comes in. All these options can be kept in the store cupboard, so on those busy days when you just don’t have time to dash to the supermarket, you can turn to your cupboard for these non-perishable fruit portion options that are there on standby.
For those fresh pineapple lovers, try the Fruitini Pineapple Fruit Sticks but these must be kept in the freezer and, if popped in the lunchbox in the morning, they’ll be just right by lunchtime!

Also take a look at our nutrition pages for more information on five a day. For more inspiration, take a look at our recipe section. You may feel hungry after taking a peek though!
