Have you heard about the new range of crisps flavours by Walkers Crisps? Due to the popularity of crisps in the UK and the huge popularity of sandwiches as a lunchtime snack, Walkers came up with a clever marketing idea of combining this winning combination and created six Walkers Crisps Sandwich Flavours! Have you seen them yet? You may have spotted them on twitter with the hashtag #barmyforsarnies? or seen the TV ad campaign or the funny clips on Youtube maybe?
Have you tried the new flavours yet? There are 6 in total and they come in a single 40g bag (RRP £0.65), 6 pack x 25g, 12 pack or 24 pack. To be honest, I haven’t seen them in my local supermarket, however I have just seen them listed on ocado, so if you’re keen to spice up your lunch box, do try them and let us know what you think! Now please note they won’t be around for long, being a limited edition only. Just 11 weeks in total, so you will have to hurry! Walkers (owned by Pepsico) has cleverly teamed up with Heinz, the guys that make all the sauces you typically use to spice up your sarnies, to come up with some interesting sandwich inspired flavours, the Walkers Crisps sandwich flavours. The flavours in case you haven’t seen them are:
- Cheese Toastie & Worcester Sauce
- Ham & Mustard
- Roast Chicken & Mayonnaise
- Cheese, Cucumber & Salad Cream
- Sausage & Brown Sauce
- Bacon & Tomato Ketchup
They are also running a “Go Barmy for A Sarnie” competition until the end of October, so you will have to hurry if you want to show you are #barmyforsarnies!
To find out more about the flavours and the competition, hurry on over to the Walkers website.
Here are just some of the conflicting articles I’ve found that sum up what the public thinks of the limited edition range:
Huffington Post: Walkers’ Sandwich inspired flavours have divided the internet
Which sarnie flavour out of the six do you think was least well-received?
It turns out the cucumber flavour was mentioned alot on social media… and not for good reasons. Read the Mirror article for more details…
The sarnie club has since closed, so I’m afraid you can’t hop along and be that human inside the crisp packet or that human inside the sandwich. Looked like a lot of fun though!
There’s been a lot of contention over what goes with a bacon sarnie and what goes with a sausage sandwich. Should bacon be with brown sauce and sausage with ketchup or the other way round?
But my burning question to you though, is, what, in your opinion, makes a great crisp buttie? What flavour of crisps do you tend to grab? Do you grab the ready salted so it provides the crunch without adding too much flavour to your sandwich or do you pop in some hot and spicy crisps to add that special kick to your sarnie?
I love hearing your answers, so please like and share and comment below.
Thanks for reading!
