It’s still term-time, and I know at times it’s hard NOT to get in a rut with lunch boxes. It’s tricky to come up with ideas day in and day out. And this far into the term, we can all do with some fresh ideas. And what with this chilly snap, we need to make sure their lunch box will keep them fuelled up, and concentrating hard until home time.
So thanks to nutritionist, Juliette Kellow, here’s a complete lunch box menu today :
Tuna and sweetcorn sandwich (2 slices of wholemeal bread filled with 45g tuna in water, 2tbsp sweetcorn in water and 2tsp light mayo)
1 carrot peeled and cut into sticks
1 Chedds Bricks*
1 pear
1 pot low-fat fruit yogurt (125g)
Bottle of water
* Chedds – to find out more about Chedds and their great kids cheese snacking range, visit www.cathedralcity.co.uk/chedds
Did you know?
School lunches have to meet certain targets for nutrients by law. However, there are no official guidelines for packed lunches.
This means many packed lunches can end up being high in fat, saturates and salt, and low in protein, fibre and essential vitamins and minerals.
So this week we’re bringing you each day a healthy lunch box meal for your kids, that you know will be totally nutritious and balanced thanks to nutritionist Juliette Kellow. So if you follow this carefully, you can be sure that each day meets the nutritionist guidelines set by the School Food Trust.
So what’s your favourite lunch box idea that you prepare for lunch?
