BOL Salads In Jar Review

August 6, 2016 by caroline Leave a Comment

I got up extra early to write this post today, otherwise it simply wasn’t going to get done! Those of you parents with kids will know exactly what I mean. The only truly peaceful time when you can think for yourself and get things done (and I mean most efficiently and effectively) is when the family is either not around, or still sleeping. So today it’s time for the BOL Salads in Jar review.

These were sent to me in the most amazing packaging.

My neighbour thought it was my birthday!

BOL Salad In Jars Review

There are four salads in the range:

The Californian, for those kale lovers out there

The Persian, for a touch of Middle Eastern spice

The Mediterranean, for the Greek lovers

and the Japanese because some of you like it raw…

What I love about the jars :

They come packaged in reusable screw top jars, so can be re-used for anything you like – salad toppings, craft projects, and more.

They do not leak in your bag on the way to work. Believe me, I tried them. I popped them in my handbag and took them to work. Zero leakage.

They come complete with salad dressing, in its own little pot with pull off lid and a foldable fork. So they contain everything you need.

But above all, the contents look so fresh, and as I always have said, we eat with our eyes. The more colourful the salad, or dish, the more excited I become with the colour combination and the anticipation of eating that food.

All you need to do is simply pull off the celophane wrap from the salad dressing pot, pour dressing over the salad, screw the lid back on and shake it to make it! It’s that simple! Then eat and savour all the flavours, the crunch from the veggie mix and enjoy!

What else do you need?

With just under 400 calories per jar, these are an easy lunch option that you can enjoy during your working day.

Once at work, I popped the jar in the fridge, so it would be as fresh as possible and still looking good for lunchtime.

The Californian BOL Salad Jar

This salad combines kale, chargrilled broccoli, tomatoes, red and white quinoa, to be dressed with white miso and soy dressing

The Persian BOL Salad Jar

Spiced cauliflower, beluga lentils, spinach with pomegranate and sumac dressing

The Mediterranean BOL Salad Jar

Roasted butternut squash, feta, chickpeas, with lemon and sun-dried tomato dressing

The Japanese BOL Salad Jar

Chargrilled broccoli, raw slaw, black rice, black beans, with white miso, soy and ginger dressing

Anything I don’t like about the BOL Salad In Jars?

Personally, for me, I’d have liked a bit more feta in the Mediterannean, but that’s maybe just me.

These salads are however delicious served on their own or if you’ve more time to spare, can be served as part of a meal, as a side salad with quiche, cold meat platter, lasagne …

A bit about BOL and the Founder

BOL Salad in Jars have been developed by Paul Brown whose aim is to make it easy for people to eat well on the go. Well that’s our mantra too – to make lunch boxes fun and healthy and colourful as possible!

The BOL range has been developed in collaboration with TV chef Alex Mackay and renowned nutritionist Ian Marber (aka The Food Doctor).

To find out more, just hop over to the BOL website or look out for them in the supermarkets. I have spotted them already online in Ocado, Sainsburys, Waitrose and Tesco and they are soon to be available in leading supermarkets.

I’ve just spotted they do a Cook Pot range too. So I hope to be reviewing these soon in the very near future. So watch this space!

So now over to you, have you seen or tried these salads? Any tips you would share?

We love hearing your thoughts.
