OK, so if you’ve been following the blog, this is just what you have been waiting for.
If you have just joined us, do follow the whole Finish Quantumatic adventure / story.
So, what do we actually think?
Our trial was to use the Finish Quantumatic Gadget for the full 12 washes and reach our verdict.
In case you have no idea what it looks like, here it is:
You get the gadget plus the 12 wash refill in the pack.
Well, we have put it to the test, thought up all sorts of challenges to see if it really does perform, took part in the photoshoot involving 2 dishwasher loads of dirty dishes and loads more. On reflection, I would say I am alot more confident overall in the capabilities of the Finish Quantumatic as a dishwasher detergent, when I think back to some of the dishwasher tablets I have bought in the past. The number of times, I have to re-wash certain items, or be extra vigilent in cleaning out the filter, but this time, with the Finish Quantumatic in situ I have been alot more laid back. OK I was very nervous at the start, had I put it in right and so on, but as the days unfolded, you do get more confident in the new friend, the gadget!
So, to summarise the results:
What’s good about it?
- You don’t have to think about it for the 12 washes, just make sure it is upright when you first load it in its position in the top rack
- It does seem to make everything sparkle and appear cleaner the further you get into the 12 washes
- No funny smells in the dishwasher either, just freshness
- Puts that “brand new” sheen back on the lunch boxes
What’s bad about it?
- It does take up the space of a mug, but over time you do get used to it and you just work around that, as if it really is part of the dishwasher furniture
- More expensive than all in one tablets by Finish, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for when it’s on offer and stack up then! (I mean “stock up”, so much dishwasher talk!)

Great post. I think knowing that it cleans without having to worry about rewashing is the main plus point for me. I was getting sick of rewashing everything.

I know exactly what you mean. We all need something that'll do the chores without any quibble and that does exactly what it says on the tin! I think it's a thumbs up from us!
The Dotterel says
It's certainly a (qualified) thumbs up from us, too – but in view of the cost, I'm still going to use tablets for most 'ordinary' washes. After all, the gizmo comes out and goes back in easily enough…
Or am I just being a skinflint?

I still have one last refill but my thoughts are that perhaps it is worth that extra 17-20p a wash. Perhaps a small price to pay for that extra peace of mind? Trouble is, I've become so blase about the gadget, that it is only today I realised I am down to my last wash before the refill runs out, and there is no warning!
Maggie says
It's a thumbs up from me too!
Will link to your site when we get the next posting info.
Nadine Hill says
I loved it too and I agree, the extra 20p or so per wash is worth it for the cleanliness all round!
Although like Dotterel, I have loads of tablets left too so I'll be using the Quantumatic for the heavy duty stuff!
