London 2012: Team GB and how we’re supporting #benandrita this Olympics

July 30, 2012 by Caroline Job Leave a Comment

We’ve 3 budding sailors on our hands, and every Olympics their belief and desire to be part of the Olympics grows… This is how we’re supporting #benandrita this Olympics at London 2012…
Previously members of the local swimming club, competing in regular gala’s, then county champs and Club champs, each race, every time knocking precious seconds off their PB’s (personal bests); smarter racing gear acquired, the confidence grew, and as the confidence grew, yet more time shaved off. However pounding up and down the swimming lanes took its toll and a new sport was found: sailing.
The chance to still be at one with the water, but with the wind in the hair, and to be outside, with different scenery to be observed, not just the same four walls of the swimming pool… Learning to manoeuvre an Optimist, find the wind, then follow a course, then whip the boat round the buoy and back again. Then moving on to the Catamaran, with more sails and more things to think about… progressing onwards and upwards.
We’ve been lucky enough to be sent some of the highly sort after #benandrita socks to show our support for Ben Ainslie and the lovely Rita…
We checked we had the socks on the right feet first…

Then sat back with pride, after a training session that day…

We’ll be reading the book just as soon as we get our hands on it, to see how Ben Ainslie made it to the top. And yes, we’ve had our eyes glued to the goggle box watching the first race this weekend. The kids with this never ending thirst and desire to learn how Olympians make it to the top will never cease to amaze me. And yes, each sailing trip involves that essential picnic opportunity.

So Go #Benandrita!

We’re right behind you!

So how are you showing your support for Team GB?
